Why is Notesnook so far behind on its latest version on FDroid?

Wondering if I missed something about Notesnook? F-Droid version is on 3.0.32 and was last updated on 2/20/2025.

Playstore version is 3.3.36 and last update was 10/23/25

This is the problem with F Droid I have is that their updates take a long time after they are already released. It’s because how they do things but this problem is why they are deal breaker for me for the most part. I still do use them for some apps but only a select few.

That’s why I prefer Aurora Store. You would get everything as they become available on Play Store. I recommend Aurora Store or Obtanium if you are okay with it being a DIY option.

Sorry, I don’t actually have an answer for your question.

The build on fdroid was failing. see here and here

Reading Play store reviews its looks like they’re now putting basic features that were free behind pay walls now. I might just go back to Joplin.

I wonder if F-Droid makes the paywalled offline features (like app lock) available again. They do so for e.g. the Tasks.org app which has all the premium features available for free.

Then you’re transferring your trust from the dev to F-Droid when it comes to the app. Do you really want to take that risk? I highly advise against it especially for your notes app in which you’re likely going to have sensitive info stores.

They are free in the F-Droid version I downloaded but that version is several versions behind and it looks like the paywalls are more recent.

I agree with you.

Was once at Obsidian with a paid subscription, but then switched to Notesnook to not have to pay anymore. In the meantime, Notesnook includes practically all functions in the subscription.

I haven’t found a good solution, temporarily I use an offline app and synchronize it via Nextcloud.
