I’m curious why Kagi isn’t mentioned as a search engine alternative on the recommendations. Is there an opinion held by the community to steer away from it? It seems to meet the criteria in the posting––being open-source and allowing Tor networking (although through its built-in Privacy Pass).
Is it open source? I thought only the browser extension was open source.
Thanks for linking that. Good read.
I can get behind the logic of a user account being tied to a search engine being the major downfall, even if there is no inherent tie to the end-user. I personally find it sad to see the disdain it gets over being a paid service––I feel there shouldn’t be an expectation for a privacy focused service to be free, but that is a difference of opinion at that point.
“Increasingly open-source” so I could be off.
