Why is Brave connecting to ad domains?

On iOS Brave is connecting below domains. How can I prevent it from connecting these domains? Thankfully my DNS is blocking all of these queries.

Rewards, VPN, data sharing options are already disabled.

search.anonymous.ads.brave.com
geo.ads.brave.com
variations.brave.com
static.ads.brave.com
star-randsrv.bsg.brave.com
brave-user-model-installer-input.s3.brave.com

I think the only way is going to be either using your DNS like you’re already doing or blacklisting those domains in Screen Time.

Brave is monetizing the browser via “Brave Ads” and it’s keeping its list of these ads up-2-date whether you enabled displaying these ads or not.

Nothing malicious, nothing to worry about … and you could have found this information via a simple search, too.

I know it uses Brave Ads but it shouldn’t force it. Content filters are already active, rewards are disabled, and below three domains are only happening in iOS. I checked my Windows logs and there were no connection attempts to these three domains.

search.anonymous.ads.brave.com
geo.ads.brave.com
static.ads.brave.com

I see connections to
geo.ads.brave.com
static.ads.brave.com
on Brave desktop/macOS with all ad functions disabled, too.

Maybe they are Mac/iOS specific? I am checking logs from the last day and I couldn’t find those on Windows Brave.

My Windows Brave started to connect to star-randsrv.bsg.brave.com 2 days ago.
Now my DNS blocks that query and variations.brave.com.
