From the criteria:
Clients must be open source.
Because it’s available only on Apple devices? Vendor lock-in and all that.
Personally I think that’s a silly/unnecessary requirement. Really nothing against using Apple Notes IMHO. Personally I don’t like it cuz it won’t work on devices outsides apple ecosystem and I think standard notes is better.
The reason that you might not want to recommend apple notes is that it’s not E2EE by default. Now that is a much better argument. We want things to be there with privacy in mind from start, not something you have to toggle on, because we know that not everyone will read and do so correctly.
