You can donate to Signal in many ways. Donating in-app gets you a badge. What are users compromising if they do this?
Google has you card details and knows you payed that amount to Signal.
I wanted to start backup subscription, more as a support than actual need, but I don’t like that fact (even though I have separate virtual card for online payments). And I doubt they’ll offer alternative methods anytime soon

You can’t add payment method to google play without account
It should be noted that Signal accepts Google pay, Paypal and “plain” credit/debit cards as payment methods when donating through the app. So google does not need to know that you’ve donated to Signal.
