What’s the host os? What vm software are you using?
Virtualbox and my
Host is win11
Its debloated and has around 5gb idle ram usage (jesus thats a lot) i keep my laptop plugged in and have no host appps running while the vm is running.
I dont have much exp with vms so i think its my problem i gave it a lot of resources
Did you enable all the “3d acceleration” and similar options?
Hyper-V also has way better paravirt GPU support if you’re on Pro/Enterprise.
Do you have the turtle icon in the lower right side of the VM window?
I did! It’s speedy now, Any other tips? For perf
I bet HyperV would be a bit faster than Virtual box.
I can confirm that it’s much, much faster. I use VirtualBox myself, because I like the UI more, and it’s also easy to back up and move VMs between different systems, however in terms of pure performance, there’s basically no comparison between the two.
Title, my host is 32gb ram 20 cores is this sufficient?
what exactly what.
For the love of god of all low effort posts that we’ve already got
just
specify
your
specs
and demands specifically, vbox would not be the answer if you want to do windows gaming for example.
Just for browsing and light apps like discord.
Im wondering what specs would be desirable for this since i heard win11 doesnt work well in vms
It works totally fine but you need to disable Core isolation if you want to take advantage of a fast vm in Virtual Box
Maybe use Windows sandbox instead? Or Hyper-V?
If you use Hyper-V you don’t have to disable Core isolation but both work well.
Disable core isolation on host or vm?
On the host
