US Gov says 'Don't use a VPN'. Should you trust it?

Considering I am not gonna watch 13 min long video, all I can say is, dear US gov, go kick sand, I will continue to use my VPNs (yes, plural)

Must be the memo shared by the NSA after the FBI said to use encrypted communications.

Although I disagree with unilaterally recommending against VPNs, their arguments are actually very sensible and are often echoed here.

  1. VPNs only shift trust from your ISP to you VPN
  2. Most VPN providers have lackluster privacy policies and sketchy practices

Which is a good thing, I would trust a trustworthy VPN than my ISP at any day.

All ISPs are obligated by law to collect user data and give it to authorities by court orders.

Yeah, but they will never mention that some aren’t.
