TorServ – Zero-config static web server over Tor (.onion)

Website

Short description

Zero-config static web server that auto-launches as a Tor hidden service. MIT-licensed, cross-platform, and built for censorship-resistant publishing.

Why I think this tool should be added

TorServ makes it dramatically easier for anyone to self-host a static website over Tor. It requires no setup or configuration, which lowers the technical barrier for journalists, activists, or privacy-minded users. It’s open-source, MIT-licensed, and cross-platform — making it a practical tool for censorship resistance and anonymous publishing.

Minor update:
A simple clearnet site is now live for TorServe — https://torserv.org/
Just a landing page for now (no trackers, no JS), but it makes it easier to share with folks who don’t live on GitHub.
Thanks again for the early feedback — much appreciated.

Hey all, just a quick follow-up!

TorServ has had a solid update since my original post:

:rocket: New release: v0.3.0
:globe_with_meridians: Improved landing site: https://torserv.org

  • Clearer design and usage info
  • Multilingual index
  • No JS, no analytics, no nonsense

:package: Better first-run UX, metadata scrubbing tweaks, and setup refinements

Still keeping things zero-config and privacy-first — unzip and go.
Just wanted to share in case it’s still being considered.

Thanks again for the feedback and attention!
