This shows how impossible it would be to actually read all the terms of service on social media apps

And I’m pretty sure most of that text is just a bunch of yada-yada. Lmao

ToS;DR be like:
Sticks a Summary of the ToS on top of the actual ToS at visible enough angle of every one of those services

For those who don’t know ToS;DR

I hear MS is even longer than the rest of those, like it goes to a different room altogether. IIRC Microsoft’s EULA is the longest.

I would caution against relying on this to heavily. It can be flat out wrong at times. It is still good to, at the very least, skim the relevant section of the ToS you are concerned about.

I think the whole point was that it is impossible to skim through the dizzying legalese as a lay person and find and correctly legally interpret what is the relevant information for the reader.

The legalese has reached the point that neither the politicians who write the laws, the judges who interpret the laws, nor the attorneys who argue for or against the laws ever agree on the true meaning. There are too many laws and too many conflicting laws.

If the vague EULA or ToS cannot be understood by the common man, the common man should not do business with or provide data to the scoundrels.

Long story short, they do not deserve your money or your data. Find a different way to accomplish what they would have you believe is something of value.

 yeah I guess, I more saw it as a statement on how long the entire ToS is for these companies but, I am assuming most people here are usually just interested in the specific privacy or data policy parts. Take instagram for example, while its large, I wouldn’t call it “dizzying legalese”.

I am also critical of this way of thinking that not reading any of the terms of service and relying on another site to properly vet it for you is somehow a better practice.

I find my ideal Privacy Policy to be when companies make summaries themselves, like Adguard and Ente. But I understand it might be hard for companies to make concise and to-the-point summaries while staying completely accurate to the legalese.
