As many of you know each device comes with unique IMEI address , and each sim card comes with unique IMSI number , but what if we can anonymize both of them ?
current solutions would be to use a device that allows imei changing , i can think of GL.iNet Mudi 4G LTE router with Blue Merle: Reducing your cellular footprint , please let me know if there are others especially if they run open source software like openwrt in this case
but that would leave us with ranndomizing the IMSI , which means get multiple sim cards which cann be annoying , insiv (rip) : PGPP used to offer a plan that provides " Mobile ID changes - Provides 30 random mobile ID (IMSI) changes per month, using oblivious authentication during changes. ID changes are on demand. This decouples you as a user from each ID your phone is given, and neither INVISV nor the mobile provider know which ID you received. "
but these solutions are expensive and carrying a hotspot when you only plan to use your mobile phone might not be practical for most users , my suggestion is : a device that combines both of the services but one that would be compact in size , a device that would be attached to the phone like magsafe or embedded in a case , and connects to the phone with usb type c and acts as ethernet adapter (and have another port for charging passthrough) , a device that would combine the hospot with imei changing option and multiple esim IMSI ids shared and rotated between all customers
i’m also curious if there are custom roms that allow true changing of the IMEI and not just spoofinng and if it can be done with Grapheneos as that would remove the need for the IMEI changing feature
In any case , what do you think of such device ? would you be interested in crowdfunding it ? this device set to LTE only coupled with a grapheneos device set to airplane mode would be the gold standard for cellular privacy !
