Telegram "anonymous" numbers from Fragment will now require KYC

Images from: @thefuzzstone on X.

The KYC verification service is by Sumsub, a company founded by three Israeli brothers: Andrew, Peter and Jacob Sever. CEO Andrew Sever is based in Tel Aviv.

Reminds with the case of X/twitter, that utilizes service called AU10TIX which is an identity verification and risk management company based in Hod HaSharon, Israel.

It is as if all of our personal data is now in hands of country that is known for war crimes and for spyware companies (ex: NSO).

As far as I know, KYC applies for Telegram Stars, Telegram Usernames and Telegram Premium Subscriptions, Anonymous numbers can still be purchased KYC-free.

There are already proxy buyers who will source them for you KYC-free and still go through Fragment for some % above market rate listed on the site, for what it is worth.
