References in Signal's source code point to a new feature to sign up without giving a phone number, potentially requiring a one-time payment.

They should add other verifications like remote attestation and CAPTCHA

They could sell Signal activation cards on Amazon like Mullvad does. Obviously other platforms as well and then some could sell them for Monero.

Game changer. Hope they accept crypto.

That’s actually a good idea and will help mitigate the problem of spam accounts. Hopefully, Signal will put that money to good use and not make it expensive!

Good idea. Hopefully, they’ll accept all forms of payment, including crypto!

Something else that was brought up in the QnA was using blinded tokens for separating payment from the account, so I think Signal is well equipped to solve the privacy issues with payment.

Hopefully it’s not only Google and Apple payments.
