tails/tor bridge question

my threat model - hostile country to tor use. concerns about physical device access. don’t want anyone to know about my tor use

i know in tails you can select a default bridge, which has always worked for me. there is also the option to use a custom bridge. i have actually found the custom ones go faster, but then i have to store that somewhere, which is more evidence of tails use if anyone ever goes through my stuff. at least if i select default.. all i have is my usb which i can throw away easily.

i have looked through the tails documentation and i couldn’t find any clear answers so please no links to that, unless it provides an answer directly.

You’re going to have to enable persistence or use a secondary flash drive encrypted with VeraCrypt. With persistence you can save the last bridge you connected to but if you want to save more you’ll have to use a text file or something.

Keep in mind that bridges don’t hide the fact you’re a Tor user. WebTunnel might be the best option for this, though honestly using a VPN+Tor is probably better. It’s just difficult (impossible?) to use a VPN+Tor on Tails.
