So, what's the verdict on Cromite (Desktop)?

It’s been out for a while now. I know Cromite is recommended for Android (rightfully so, imo), but what about the Desktop version? I used it before and it seems quite… light on features. But that has nothing to do with privacy and or security.

What do you all think? Is Cromite a serious contender for a desktop browser now (even if not officially recommended by PG)?

So, I just tried it on Linux, and two things

It inherits the settings from Chromium which I have on my machine, can be seen as a good thing but I see it as a bad thing.

Still Adblock Plus, I would prefer uBlock Origin.

Not practical to use, no deb/rpm packages or Flatpak or hell even snap. Only an executable in a folder, I don’t find it pratical.

Couldn’t one disable ABP and install uBO Lite on desktop?

Yes

Just started using Cromite on the desktop.

uBO still works, it’s up to date (even more so than Arch’s own Chromium package rn). Seems to be a good alternative to Brave at least in Arch distros as there’s an AUR package. Not perfect, but I like it better than Brave so far.
