It looks like I have to buy new TV. Unfortunately, it seems that all of 4K TVs include ‘smart’ functionality in some way, with operating system, this or another. I rejected in advance all TV’s with Google TV. Not just for privacy reasons, I have Google TV box and it’s a nightmare in terms of functionality and user experience. I plan to run dedicated Raspberry PI for TV. But back to the TV’s.
I got interested in Phillips devices which uses Titan OS. I don’t plan to even connect it to the WiFi, but doesn’t it force creating an account or using it for some, or even most of it’s functionality?
The question might sound weird but in the times of forced MS accounts on PC everything is possible.
I did some web search but this wasn’t mentioned, especially on official Phillips website.
I am not sure about this particular model, maybe try to download the users manual. My LG C5 can be used without Internet access and online account for what it’s worth.
Not sure a specific model will bring any benefit given the fact that most companies tend to have local ones. Aka a TV, blender or headphones could have 12 different SKU numbers based on where they are sold but cool if it helps.
Honestly, focus on the TV specs themselves (type of panel, refresh rate, size etc etc…) and just never connect it to the Internet.
Especially if planning to wire it to a RaspberryPi.
