Running modded APKs in android emulator in a VM

Hey there, If I run modded APKs in simualted android environment, in a virtual machine, will I be safe from potential malware? The only thing I will have in this instance of virtual machine is the android environment and the only thing in the android environment will be the APK, however, will this risk compromising my security? (I’m more referencing potential attacks on my network as I’m sure an APK can’t escape 2 virtual environments).

Your host OS will likely pose a bigger threat assuming you use a browser, package manager, or anything else with a high attack surface.
