There are settings that are already on by default on Brave, so no need to keep them in the “Recommended Brave Settings” list, making the process of hardening more complicated that it already is.
Those settings are:
Check Block fingerprinting
Select Block third-party cookies
Select Automatically remove permissions from unused sites under Sites and Shields Settings
Uncheck Use Google services for push messaging
Select Auto-redirect AMP pages
Select Auto-redirect tracking URLs
Select Prevent sites from fingerprinting me based on my language preferences
No I don’t mean Brave changing the defaults, I mean a user might have changed the default settings at some point. We’re not assuming the browser is freshly installed. Plus if Brave do change the defaults at some point then we won’t have to do anything.
