See CoMaps (FOSS Navigation, Organic Maps fork) until comments there are merged.

It’s not clear which posts you think should be merged. Most posts in that topic debate adding CoMaps rather than removing Organic Maps. Those that do advocate for removing Organic Maps do so on the basis of it being replaced by CoMaps rather than any compelling independent reason.
I disagree. They do expect it will be replaced by CoMaps, but that isn’t in itself the reason of the removal.
