When installing Windows 11, it is recommended to pick a country in the EEA. Which one would be recommended? Does it matter? Also, when creating the media installation, does the language you pick matter?
I usually pick “English/World” as my language and pick a country in the EEA to avoid any enshittification features that haven’t been implemented in the EU yet (cough cough potential “features” of Copilot)
Normally this would be used to avoid creating a Microsoft account. If for some reason this doesn’t work or you don’t have an option to select “English/World”, you can also follow this section on our community wiki by @banana :
Hey Kev, thanks for your reply! Any country in the EEA is fine? Does it matter which one I pick?
Would someone have an answer to this? Just received my ssd after 2 months lol…
@banana ?
You can open file “C:\Windows\System32\IntegratedServicesRegionPolicySet.json” using Notepad to view region-specific changes.
I can’t, I haven’t installed it yet and need to make a selection before.
I’ll search the web and revert.
Edit: the country in the EEA doesn’t matter. You’ll just have to switch language and keyboard after installation.
