Question - Live self-hosting walkthroughs?

Ok, two questions.

Would there be any interest in like a group call, webinar-style livestream where we go through and set up a self-hosted VPN (with Outline VPN probably) together, and if you have issues you can message and we can figure it out and stuff, like a group project?

(Like basically I’ll install some self hosted software on a call/livestream and you can follow along at the same time if you want and ask questions live if you’re doing it yourself.)

And then also, are there topics you’d be interested in doing this with other than setting up a VPN?

I’m sure many people would be interested in that content. Personally, I really like Tailscale with an Exit Node configured as a personal VPN solution. It gets around all the nasty NAT and port forwarding issues that people are likely to face.

Reminds me of the MrLlamaSC guided play throughs but for self-hosting. I think it would be a great idea.

If you’re looking to self host on a VPS, I’d be happy to provide you with whatever configuration you need for that on our hardware in Montreal, free of charge of course :slight_smile:

Meanwhile I find anything on a VPS kinda uninteresting. The nasty stuff starts with a home connection, ISP router, opening ports, dynamic DNS etc

Also, install how and on what OS? I am on NixOS so I guess this will be the traditional Debian+Docker type thing?
