Does that apply only for Netflix/Disney or also any kind of video content like YouTube?
Because I don’t really care about Netflix but I would be a bit sad if YT via LibreELEC is limited to 720p. ![]()
YouTube is not limited, YouTube never utilized any form of DRM, it applies to those that do
Which is a (surprising) but good news for once. ![]()
afair they do use some basic “DRM” on music videos, and Widevine DRM on their movies, and they were also experimenting with using Widevine DRM on regular videos too last year or so
Has anyone here tried if a Windows VM will give above 720p streams?
hope they won’t, enough BS like that already with their AI shenanigans.
I’m surprised they haven’t already. Was expecting it to have happened years ago by now.
It is embeded in so many sites it would be widely impractical. Plus they would lose a lot of access to older devices especially old smart TVs.
Absolutely. The blind faith people have in Apple is laughable. All Apple devices are constantly pinging Apple servers, it’s easy enough to verify if you run a DNS server or packet filter on your network.
KDE or GNOME running on a commodity thin client, scaled somewhere around 200% with a Pepperjobs remote is the true privacy respecting TV box. If this means living without Netflix, so be it, I’d rather put a fraction of the money into a VPN and rely on alternative sources.
