Proton VPN has something called “profiles” which are preset settings and criteria for what kind of servers you want to connect to.
On my windows app, there is a “Random connection” profile that, when chosen, will connect to a random server. When I create a custom profile, I also have the ability to configure it as random.
But my android app does not have this profile, nor can I create a custom one with this preset criteria.
Am I missing something? Or does the android app not have the ability to choose servers randomly? And if they don’t, then what are your methods for working around this, if you have one?
I’ve wanted this feature for some time. There are some activities for which I would like to remove IP as a fingerprint, yet do not want to run over Tor. Ive even considered exporting 100+ wireguard configs to a third-party VPN client to achieve it
As an Android daily active user, randomized connections is not a feature I’ve found in Proton’s app. As detailed above, official documentation seems unclear to me.
Maybe @Proton_Team can weigh in - is a randomized default/startup connection available on Proton’s official Android client? For which OS versions of the VPN client is it available on?
It outright annoys me not to have it (among other things as a paid customer), especially since it’s sort of built in to the free version of the app as you don’t get to choose, and when you do choose you have a button that says ‘change server’. It’s a convenience that’s taken away when you become a paid customer.
