Proton Launches Free Data Breach Observatory to Track Dark Web Leaks

TL;DR: CYBER INSIDER: Proton has introduced the Data Breach Observatory, a new initiative that leverages dark web intelligence to surface cyberattacks and breaches that often go unreported.

Unlike conventional breach reports that depend on voluntary disclosures, the newly launched platform draws directly from threat actor communities to provide near real-time visibility into the scope of global data leaks.

You can check out Proton’s Data Breach Observatory’s website in the link below:

Oh so they’re building up their own threat intelligence team then? That’s cool!

Yes, it’s really cool. I really hope that they will index and document as many data breaches as possible from the past, at least from the last 15 years. I think it would be super useful to have a kind of Wikipedia that lists all the data breaches that occurred in the past and that they can be filtered by country, industry, scale, etc…

When you are trying to persuade someone that they shouldn’t use a service or implement a technology, it makes a huge difference to have local examples of data breaches to cite. Telling someone from Argentina about data breaches in the US may not move them at all. But if you tell them about Argentinian breaches, they are likely to pay more attention.

I want to see the data breaches of companies like LastPass, NordVPN, and Authy listed there. I also think it’s important that there are other organizations do the same thing so that Proton’s observatory is not the only one.

All of that leaked information, and just thinking about everything that can be done with it, makes me feel sick.

Is there a way to subscribe kind of like Mozilla Monitor?
