Speaking of open-source, Signal’s server‑side code is largely open source with only a few components like anti‑spam remaining proprietary, whereas Proton’s services—Mail, Drive, VPN, and Pass—keeps their backend code closed. Despite this difference, Privacy Guides has recommended multiple Proton services even though Proton isn’t as fully open source as Signal. Is Proton’s lack of transparency problematic or cause concern?
