Proton ecosystem poll

Pun intended?

That was brilliant and actually made me laugh.

Kudos.

Sorry for the constant banter with you. I feel like I run into you a lot, not trying to make bad blood.

I have never seen one reputable source say Proton is doing anything shady in the background.

Yeah i am alao missing simplelogin and standard notes.

I wanted to focus on Proton services. Both SimpleLogin and Standard Notes were just acquired by Proton, but they didnā€™t develop those.

Well proton pass is developed by the simplelogin team, so that doesnt make much sense to me.

Itā€™s developed by some of SimpleLogin developers, but not entirely. Proton is also hiring at least three more employees for Proton Pass: Career opportunities | Proton

In any case, I canā€™t edit my poll anymore because of some stupid limitation, and even if I could, it would reset the votesā€¦

I consider Proton Mail and Proton Calendar to be the same package, so missing that out doesnā€™t bother me much.

I love Proton Mail and I regret not switching sooner. Iā€™m still on the fence about Proton Drive. I donā€™t see a reason to switch to Proton VPN from Mullvad and I donā€™t see a reason to switch to Proton Pass from Bitwarden.

I use Drive. I live the service but I think the Android app is still pretty slow to load photos and always reverts back to the top of the gallery after enlarging a photo which I find pretty annoying.

Once my AirVPN sub runs out I will probably switch to Proton VPN as well, as long as its not to much of a pain to get Plex working with its port forwarding implementation.

I have thought about the unlimited plan but until I need all the services included, it seems to be cheaper to just use multiple accounts with a different service on each.

Started with mail and VPN. After about a year I started using drive and calendar. Iā€™ve been using Proton for about 4 years now and have been mostly satisfied. I have had some issues with VPN connectivity but I attribute that to issues with my ISP. I also have an account with Tuta as a secondary email and have considered looking at other VPN options for when I do a home firewall.

I use Proton Mail and Calendar without subscription.

I donā€™t want anything more from these (if I had a subscription) :person_shrugging: I prefer Windscribe VPN (if I get tired Iā€™ll try Mullvad) and donā€™t have cloud storage. Only a not 3-2-1 (only 3-2 ) backup solution. But I ended up saving some files to my 5gigs free proton drive.

Mabye AI in Proton Mail and Calendar but I donā€™t think they will make it, it would fear too much people. AI is not created ethically and it is probably not be a good thing per se but it could be quite private I think (if on-device) :person_shrugging:

Years ago I switched from Nord VPN to Proton and havenā€™t looked back. I am very happy with the speed and usability of Proton VPN. The Proton Mail Android app has been working great since the major update a few months ago, but the fact Contact Group Labels in Mail donā€™t import properly from Google Contacts is a big issue for me. And overall I like the functionality of Proton Drive. I would gladly adopt Proton Calendar if the Android version had a search function! And I have no need for Proton Pass as I am very happy with Bitwarden.

What I would really like to see is a dedicated Contacts app that can sync across multiple devices as well as with Proton Mail. For me, not having a seamless way to backup and sync contacts across multiple devices and with email is the biggest issue with using a ā€œde-googledā€ phone. And there is no need to suggest EteSync as I had nothing but problems with it years ago losing all my Contact ā€œGroupsā€/ā€œLabelsā€. Which is another issue with Proton Mail Contactsā€¦ for some reason they donā€™t allow contacts to be added to Groups who donā€™t have an email address. They also donā€™t allow a Group to have over a hundred members.
