Proton-Cloud.com legit?

Hello,

I was wondering about this so I thought I’d ask. They say on their website that they host sites and other things. The link is https://www.proton-cloud.com

At the very least, I’d say it’s disingenuous of them to be using the name Proton along with some of their marketing claims. They are very clearly trying to leach off the searches for and reputation of the Proton recommended by PG.

To me, that alone disqualifies it from my own use criteria. I would just look for an already well-established provider for what you want here.

The company isn’t listed in the Swiss commercial registry (a requirement under Swiss law) and lacks proper privacy policy and terms-of-use notices. Their headquarters’ address also appears dubious, and they clearly rely on fake reviews and stock photos. Overall, these are serious red flags—I’d be cautious.

Not only that they’ve purposely gone with an similar colorscheme/logo.

I would say this is on purpose.

Not to mention their blog looks like AI slop besides the post about their “new design”

The only domain that is owned by Proton is proton.me.

Here are domains :

Any websites with other domain that https://proton.me is fake and you shouldn’t use them.

That information is just incorrect.

Proton owns at least a dozen additional domains, most of which simply redirect visitors to proton.me (e.g., protondrive.com [1] or protonmail.com [2]).

As above. This is incorrect. You even included a different domain in your reply.

They also own protonvpn.com as well as these four other domains.

Not to mention all their alias domains like passmail.net, etc.

They also own pr.tn (it would be cool to have it as an email domain) and proton.ch.

The fact that you haven’t gotten a direct answer is surprising to me.

The link you linked is not the actual Proton, the privacy company everyone thinks about. So I would answer, no - they are not legitimate. Clearly this “company” or entity is trying to copy or claim association with Proton and that’s not the case. Please disregard and disparage this entity with prejudice for reasons mentioned in the very first comment on this thread.

The site mentionned is now just a buy this domain site.

The actual Proton also owns https://protonapps.com btw… interesting to see just how many different domains they have. I guess it might help a bit with certain DNS-based blocking but proving legitimacy would be easier if everything is a sub-domain of a single domain.

This is common in (phishing) campaigns once burned.
I guess they saw an uptick in traffic/attention from here and shut it down.

Clearly they’re trying to trade on Proton’s branding. Their website is AI slop as I said above.

They probably wont be around in the future.
