I just tried to leave a comment on David Bombal: Why GrapheneOS is Almost Impossible to Crack (Forensic Teams Have Tried) - #2 by ignoramous and my post got put in some sort of waiting list? It’s not like I said anything controversial… why are we requiring posts to be approved now? I’m a regular! It’s not like it’s my first day here.
Some words/phrases will make your post wait for approval, although to be honest I’m not sure what part of your post triggered it in this case. In any case, it’s very rare that it ever takes more than an hour or so for someone to check on it.
Edit: It was the ++ in your post, and the reason I couldn’t see was because a moderator already removed it from the watched words list by the time I looked. We have a lot of weird character combinations in the list, we add them whenever we see them used in spam posts basically. But ++ was probably a bit overzealous, so now that it’s removed that shouldn’t happen again.
Weird… clearly this is an anti-Rust censorship campaign being personally run by Jonah Aragon (known memory safety hater)![1]
Anyway, thanks for looking into it. I don’t mind waiting, but I was pretty confused (and wouldn’t have been a fan of that being the norm for ANY post (as opposed to suspected spam posts)).
Joking, obviously. ↩︎
Yeah it is only the norm for new users for all posts to require approval, see: Is there a reason why anonymous accounts require approval for posts and replies?
For the specific watched words list I don’t think we can add a similar exception for high trust level users, but it’s pretty uncommon for it to be an issue.
