Outdated privacy resources

“Misinformation is incorrect or misleading information. Misinformation and disinformation are not interchangeable terms: misinformation can exist with or without specific malicious intent…” (from).

Of course, but you said “personal grudge”.

You literally assumed since the post was “last updated March 2022”, it was at least accurate up until then. I pointed out that it isn’t. Does that make you an idiot, just like the others you look down upon?

Accusation? Encourage you to grab hold of any AOSP developer and ask them if Madaidan’s post holds.

“Made up” is what it is. Besides, there’s a reason folks don’t use outdated software. My point was, why keep sharing outdated post?

I said misinfo. Just as you wouldn’t use outdated FOSS/software, call it a security liability; or outdated cryptography, call it a privacy nightmare; what’s the equivalent term you’d call a blog post repeatedly shared around these parts, despite its age? You give it a name, and I’ll happily use it from now on.

A grant body literally said that they didn’t give us £5k because we aren’t in Europe or don’t benefit Europe in anyway (despite us showing them that Google tells us that 15%+ downloads on the Play Store are from Germany, the second largest after the US; while according to our infrastructure provider, EU IPs are the 3rd largest user of our resolvers, outside of China & Iran). That’s okay, as the fund was EU tax payers money. It may not look like discrimination to you, but it does to us, as our ask was low (£5k) to only cover costs for EU traffic.

Anyways, this is offtopic. You can DM me or create a topic on our subreddit.

When I got in touch with Mullvad co-founder, even they admitted to not knowing much about the law other than what their legal counsel told them. The thing is, those folks are more honest about the threats such laws pose.

So? I’ll call PG out on their misgivings just as I called out Madaidan’s unfortunately popular but outdated post. You seem to think I’m attacking Madaidan but I really am only commenting on this singular post on Android (not their entire “blog” or whatever).

See above, the point about outdated FOSS projects as a liability, an analogy you seem to understand, so I hope you get the point as well.

No one’s here to argue.

Asking them to update post isn’t asking for free labor. The least they could do, if they cared, is to archive it or take it down. I mentioned I already spoke with Madaidan once elsewhere about this very same thing.
