Orion Browser for macOS and iOS

I don’t know why you’re having these issues. I’ve been using Orion on iOS since it became stable and it works well for me. uBO and other extensions included.

Sorry you’re having issues.

This is a desktop bug. I would never use a different ios browser than safari anyway because there are no lockdown mode exclusions.

To add on to this, I decided to give the iOS app an earnest shot again, too. I immediately found out that Privacy Pass is completely broken in Lockdown Mode, and has been since at least March with no fix (also acknowledged by the devs): IOS: Kagi Privacy Pass - "Failed to create token request" - Orion Public Issue Tracker

Can’t recommend this to anyone, mobile or desktop, with the constant onslaught of bugs that go unfixed in this browser.

I appreciate your reply!

I’ve been using Orion exclusively as my iOS browser and it runs so many extensions from both the OFFICIAL Firefox and Chrome Extension stores! It’s truly amazing!

Lockdown Mode is not the default state in which the OS operates. You should always evaluate the software or an app for how to works by default.

Your assessment is not objective.

The great things of using Orion is that they support as old OS as possible especially on Mac (v10.14 currently but they’re planning v10.13; for iOS it’s v15 or later), with extensions from Firefox and Chrome.

I don’t know the privacy and security compared to Brave, but their setting is so simple and users don’t have to spend time opt out data collection (and adjust the level of adblock or https upgrade), as they do on Brave and Firefox.

The default adblock is already great, and the only thing is there is still a small box of YouTube ad beside the video player.

I just hope they can add widely a private report. On Mac you can see how many requests have been blocked on individual websites, but on iOS there are no ways to.

I’ve been trialing both Chrome and Firefox extensions at the same time in Orion browser, which is crazy, and it works well!

Please let me know if you need any help configuring it!

It seems like Orion might be a new cross-platform alternative to Firefox and the various Firefox forks. With Mac, iOS now and Linux and Windows coming in 2026/2027. Unfortunately it looks like they plan to integrate AI into it so in that regard it won’t be an improvement over Firefox but it seems like a good step to have a cross-platform browser family that’s not based on Chromium or Gecko.

Aside from it not being Open Source do we have a list of privacy related issues to be concerned about?
