Notion, as my colleagues at TechCrunch scooped earlier Thursday, is announcing an email client at its first "Make with Notion" user conference. For now,

Seems they “referenced” some skiff’s design, and will provide “note taking” style mail service, which seems to be more AI friendly.
Since notion is not privacy friendly and E2EE is not AI friendly (in terms of data processing), I don’t think they will implement E2EE.

So many better ways Skiff’s acquisition could have gone - but they had the screw it up.
Typical VC and big tech thinking.

Disappointed to see such a promising project like Skiff turn into this

There was nothing much promising about skiff ever. It was just a big marketing campaign for a VC.

I guess PG also took a part in that campaign because Skiff was listed as a recommendation.
It was obviously a promising suite, until Andrew sold his soul to Notion.

i am not going to repeat the discussion you can look up and see that I was firmly against that.
We are not flawless, id admit that listing Skiff was a mistake. We gave the benefit of the doubt and got burned sadly.
In any case, this is why we are more strict with listing new providers, especially in the mail department, even if it meets the requirements.
We cannot guarrantee to not make mistakes, but we can at least try our best to learn from them :).

Just to make everything clear, I wasn’t serious in the first part of my post, the recommendation made sense at the time, especially when Skiff introduced PGP support.
PG or anyone else shouldn’t be blamed for recommending Skiff.
