I always feel conflicted about these laws, on one hand it’s a noble goal, but you can’t ignore the implications of it
Is it that noble of a goal? If people want to watch porn, they will find a way to do so. Nowadays you don’t even have to go to any specific sites, social media is full of it as is.
It’s the same kind of proposals that try to outlaw encryption for the sake of dealing with criminals and preventing terrorism.
I agree, that’s why I am saying the intention is good, but the actual proposal is bad.
Even YT and YT Kids are filled with such explicit contents. I am not even mentioning Twitch.
Maybe the bills are proposed with good intent or bad, doesn’t really matter. It won’t solve the issue. Kids and teens will surely find a way around to access these contents, no matter what you do.
For me, it is mostly parent’s duty to educate their children. They should teach what is right and what is wrong. If you forbid something to your kid, you can be sure that your kid will try everything to bypass it. Instead of forbidding something, educate your kids, teach them, talk to them.
For me it’s very straightforward. Government doesn’t have a place in dictating family matters, and parents have enough tools at their disposal to prevent their children from accessing such content.
What Governments should focus on is educating said parents and introducing regulations that forces all of these tech companies to add in parental-control features and options.
Agreed, but I think pornography is a net negative on society, so I am not against its restriction.
That’s a separate discussion, I suppose.
I’m personally indifferent to pornographic content on the Internet, as long as it’s not breaking any laws and there are only consenting adults involved…
