Need help choosing new email(s)

I desperately need to start migrating to a more private option, but I always hit a wall when trying to isolate what the best path is; I only want to migrate ONCE. I’ve identified I will need multiple emails; likely 3 is the best bet.

Currently have an old yahoo-based email and a newer gmail; also have an iCloud email and a proton address (the latter two not used as much - yet). All addresses display my name explicitly shown to some degree.

I have already bought into the Apple ecosystem, so I have settled on keeping the iCloud email and using it for something.

Here are my use cases:

  1. Private correspondence to real people
  2. private email for accounts I actually care about (have digital purchases/progress/personal info tied to them)
  3. private email for everything else (ideally, stores and ‘news’)

Part of the problem is, all of my addresses have my name in them. But even if I created a generic address to further combat fingerprinting, there aren’t really any websites I am signing up for without an intent to buy something. I can’t lie about my user info, because I’m using a credit card that needs validating (my threat model is not as serious as needing to use gift cards and ship to a PO Box).

So my use cases 2 and 3 are now muddy, and I always give up around this point. I am hesitant to ‘checkout as guest’ because of order history and rewards programs.

What have others done to segment email needs?
What advice do you have for my situation?
Thank you

Endless posts and threads have been made about your titular question. Please research this forum.

No matter your use case, you can literally use Proton or Tuta for anything or all things you want. Compartmentalize how you want. Use aliases as you want. Using aliases with each account or website for whatever you want to do on or with it is perfectly fine. The way you are thinking about it is not warranted if you ask me.

You have also not explained your threat model for some of the specificity you’re trying to learn about.

While this post has some details, its still a low effort post in my opinion.

Using am email without your name in it is not lying. It’s not anything. It’s just your email. I don’t follow this logic of yours.

I already have addresses with my name in them. It would be pointless changing to an address without my name in it because the sites that I would largely use it on would be processing my payment, which means they already have my real name.

So then why even consider changing your email. Let the set up be what it is.

I think the solution has been aliases the whole time. Will be setting up SL Premium shortly. Thanks
