I’ve been using MySudo for two months as I was mostly interested in getting a VoIP number. According to their website, they only accept payments from Apple or Google Play Store. I used a gift card to top-up my balance for my subscription, and I was hoping I could continue to pay that way.
Unfortunately, I bought another gift card and when attempting to redeem my gift card, Google asked for more information. They required a picture of my gift card (with the code) and my receipts. They also wanted to know where I bought my gift card from. I submitted all of this information on the form correctly. I received an automated e-mail the next day saying they found “inconsistencies” with my account.
I looked online for solutions and it seems like the only solution is to submit the form again since Google does not have direct support. On a reddit post, someone mentioned they were able to redeem their gift card successfully after turning off their VPN. Well, after my third attempt with my VPN off, I’m still getting the same e-mail. I made a fourth attempt with a second phone (also VPN off) and currently awaiting for another e-mail. I’ve read other posts that clearing cache works (which is what I’ll try next) and another that says the problem went away on its own.
Another payment option is PaySafeCard, which doesn’t require my card or bank details, but KYC is mandatory and I’d have to verify my address. Seems like using a virtual card is a better option for privacy, but it would be my last resort. I have to subscribe within 25 days to keep my number so if none of my attempts work by the end of the month, I’ll probably have to give up.
If anyone is using MySudo, do you pay using your credit/debit card? Or bank account? OR should I port my number to a different provider? Seems like a headache, but I’ll start contacting support since I don’t know if they provide this to UK customers.
I have a MySudo Max plan and have had for over 12 months now. I have had good experiences and I believe it is a good way to get VoIPs for a pretty good rate without too much setup cost and complexity. It also works well with shortcodes and MySudo numbers seem to be more accepted than traditional VoIP numbers in my experience.
Onto paying for a plan, there’s really only one way to do it. If I assume you are using a degoogled android like a pixel running GOS, which is what I am using, I can say that it does work. You need a second device which is either an iOS device or an android device with Google Play services. I would reccomend an iOS device as out of the box they generally are more private and I believe work better for this solution. An android with GP would work though. You need to create your profile on that device and transfer it to the GOS device using the export function in settings. After it has been transferred, you can sign up for the plan on the second device and it should propagate to your degoogled device. Once subscribed it will stay active as long as there are no payment issues.
It’s a shame there’s no alternative but this solution does work, and has worked well for me.
Yes, I recently got a Pixel 9 with GOS and MySudo has been set-up on that device. I used my Samsung Galaxy A14 to set-up MySudo before transferring to GOS as this was the instructions I found on their community forum by one of the team members.
Previously, I used my A14 to pay for their Go plan so I’m hoping my fourth attempt (first on my A14) is successful, but it’s unpredictable. I haven’t used an iPhone since iPhone 6 and there’s a possibility that I can borrow an iPhone or get an SE model, but it doesn’t seem worth it. On your iOS device, what payment method are you using for MySudo?
It’s weird that there’s problems when using the A14. What are the problems? Is the subscription not syncing properly? For payment I am just using a virtual card. It doesn’t have to be an iOS device that was just my preference as I believe they are a better stock device, and is what I have used and had good experiences with when paying for MySudo.
