before deleting account start changing its detail.
for example on a job posting site, if you have account, delete your resume, your certificates, degree, work background etc, because even if you delete your account, the company might keep for months before deleting the data, and it might force not-so-relevant info on search engine results.
That’s the point. Deletion is easy. But I want to mass overwrite before I do. So… Should I use a service like redact?
Why do you want to overwrite it? What is the benefit you believe to get here?
Just so you know, if they keep the poets they will also keep the history.
Whatever tool you opt to use for this will require access to your account details. Which is a bad idea and probably a violation of their terms and conditions.
“mass overwrite” of what? give examples.
in a job posting app overwriting a single value (like your degree, or your college name) might render you out-of-scope for a doxxing operation, overwriting your random tweets? don’t see the point
The reason I want to overwrite my reddit posts is because I don’t love AI scooping it up. I don’t like being doxxed (and I have reasons to be concerned about that)
can’t you just delete the posts instead of overwriting them?
Problem is AI has scooped up a lot. I’m trying to poison the well with my posts.
in addition to this, you also can create other accounts to push disinformation even further from multiple accounts.
I used one of those tools that mass-edit all posts/comments to something random before deleting my Reddit account about 10 years ago, and when I ask ChatGPT “tell me about reddit user [username]” it can accurately tell all my interests.
You have nothing to lose by using these tools you’re seeking, but know that you don’t have much to gain either. I would leave it as it is, in case the content of some of your comments might help future users, and just move on with life.
