Looking for Android app for book list

looking for a relatively private or even offline app that I can use to keep track of the books I have read.

Currently I use my local library website to do that (which is fine) but wondering if anyone has an app they could recommend.

What’s wrong with using a notes app and make a list as and when you read books?

nothing really, I’d probably just stick to using my library account at that point.

I guess I was looking for something that might be a bit more aesthetically interesting.

This is indeed a great idea for a dev to make a FOSS app that’s reading/books related that has this functionality.

But yeah, I know what you mean. A nice looking app with the book cover, details, etc. would be nice to have indeed! I read a lot too.. so I need it as well.

exactly! My Library has a “book shelf” type deal where it has a basic version of the functionality. I thought for sure there would be an app version of that somewhere.

Hmm. We can keep looking for it. But as of now, a private basic goodreads account is the only one that comes close to what we both seem to want.

what format is the book you read? if epub, GitHub - Acclorite/book-story: Book's Story — Material You eBook reader built with Jetpack Compose. Free & Open source & Ad-free, with extensive customization options and support for multiple file formats. is great and supports other formats too.

I think OP is asking for app to track your books read, not to read books.

But this looks like a good app for reading books nonetheless.

It have a tracking feature

AH! I don’t have Android so I could not test but I did hear about a while back too. Thanks for clarifying.

Does it also have sync capabilities? I also wish this app had a version for Linux but if sync exists, I guess I can use another app on there as long it picks up synced books too.

A reminder that you dont need to have everything on your phone on your computer.

A simple notebook if you want it a bit more fancier, a plastic clearbook should be more than enough. Practically no chance of leaking to the internet, practically no hacking will happen.

Think of it as if you have a school project. Give your best and make something that will make yourself proud of.

Data stays on your phone IIRC.

It sounds like Openreads is what you’re looking for.

This seems like what I am looking for but I can’t seem to get the app to work. The openlibrary search doesn’t seem to find anything even when I know the book is on openlibrary.

I am also not sure this is an active project. There has not been a release in over 3 years and the github page says the app is unstable.

OpenReads seemingly does the same thing and actually works. Im testing that out for now.
