Hello,

I’d like to know what you think of the locate my device option on GOS?
I find it interesting to locate my device to find it or delete all the data remotely. But first I’d like to know how it works if a lot of data is shared with Google on GOS etc or even if there’s an equivalent?

There is Find my duevice on f-Droid but it requires a lot of authorisation.

I personally use the find my device on F-droid you referred to. It works via SMS, and is fully open source. The high level permissions are needed in order to fulfill all functionality such as erasing device data remotely. Individual permissions can be denied however, and I found the setup process very user-friendly in explaining what each permission is used for and what your functionality would be if you disabled it.
