I am not a giant discord user, quite the opposite actually. But I have noticed that a lot of companies within our space use it to host community chats regards their products.
I came across kloak during the age verification debacle and thought it seems like exactly what people were looking for but still never hear it mentioned.
It is in alpha so very new, but I think members here would appreciate their approach to things.
No email or phone numbers required, no tracking or trackers on the website.
I was contemplating building a couple of servers on there to test basically just to support what seems to be a relatively well thought out private alternative.
Perhaps I misunderstood what matrix was. I thought it was a cross platform messaging system as opposed to like a community hub. It will have another look at it. I do remember being surprised at how many permissions were on the more popular app. So I moved basic comms to simplex chat perhaps a couple of years ago.
Regards the e2ee I didn’t actually know it had it/claimed to have it. It was more the fact they are desperately trying to minimise tracking and data collection I liked. Plus it’s very clean (found discord to look a right mess). I will have a look at matrix again to see
