I use multiple cloud services, and often find myself needing to transfer files between them. For years, I have been using MultCloud, which is an extremely useful but also untrustworthy Chinese service. None of the files I transfer are personal, so I am comfortable using it. I have a lifetime subscription.
That being said, somebody on PG suggested I use RClone, but CLI is really not my thing. However, I found out that there are GUI versions of RClone such as RcloneView. I have been playing with RcloneView for the last couple of months, and it’s an amazing tool.
The only flaw it has for me is that there appears to be no web version. I want to transfer files between my cloud accounts without needing to run the app on my computer or run my computer at all, like I do with MultCloud.
Hence, my question:
Is there a web/cloud version of RcloneView or an equivalent that would help me achieve that?
I recommend asking your question in TWIP thread for this week when it shows up. I do not use RClone (though would love to learn more) so I don’t know if there is any such app.
It doesn’t look like exactly the same tool but maybe it could still help you migrate from one cloud to another?
EDIT: Nvm, I saw you wrote on the Web, then I guess that it won’t be a thing for security purposes.
You could always mount the remote location on your phone or maybe have some kind of cloud that would connect both ends like maybe Nexcloud?
(Nexcloud sharing both a folder in cloud A and cloud B that you could access from a web UI but yeah, too niche and untrustworthy of an environment to justify the existence of such a tool IMO)
Thinking about it, I am not sure that MultiCloud is safe either.
Maybe the best is still to simply try to drag and drop from one tab to the other? Definitely won’t work with all clouds haha.
Just to be clear, might still exist and findable with some Google/AI-fu but not sure I would recommend doing that over some HTTPS as a whole.
What’s the use-case exactly? You hop from a free tier on a Cloud A and Cloud B?
I was thinking maybe their other product Mountain Duck (which probably the most similar to rclone) as it offers a “Integrated Connect Mode” and “Smart Synchronization” but it may still not fit the brief.
Thanks for this suggestion. That’s too bad. You’d think a web-UI wouldn’t require CLI.
lol Unfortunately not. I use Cyberduck every day and have for years. I love it! IMHO, it’s the best SFTP client because it is super user-friendly. All other free SFTP clients have terrible UI & UX. Its only flaws are that speeds are slower than other SFTP clients and that it’s missing some features on Windows that they have on Mac. Namely, dark mode.
Cyberduck is a great tool to manage various cloud storages. I use it for Google Drive and SFTP servers. However, Cybderduck can’t transfer files between cloud accounts. And even if it could, it would still have to be done on my computer, as they don’t have a web-UI.
Yeah. I made that very clear in my original post. They are owned by a Chinese company and even if they weren’t, I imagine it’s very difficult to create a cloud migration tool that can’t see your files. That’s why I don’t transfer any personal files. Absolutely nothing linked to my personal identity.
Yeah, this sounds a little too niche for me indeed. I just want to be able to do everything from the web so that I can turn off my computer and let the migration be done completely remotely, not using any of my computer’s resources. .
Not familiar with S3Drive. It is like a cloud management tool? I see that it’s a paid service.
I am familiar with MountainDuck. It’s not a free service, and I don’t believe they have a web-UI. Everything is from your computer.
As a general rule, I have stopped syncing cloud services to my computer. The only one I use to sync is Filen. But I manually enable it all the time. It doesn’t run automatically.

It’s basically a client for S3 and Rclone that functions like a Google Drive or Proton Drive sort of app. I expect the web interface displays similarly to most cloud drive management interfaces. There should be a free version that’s missing some features, which might be fine depending on what exactly you need (assuming the web version is included in the free version, which I don’t know).
Although, now that I’m looking at your post again, it seems you want it to run even after the web page is killed, which I don’t think S3Drive will do since they’d need to upload your Rclone config with your passwords or access tokens (depending on backend) to their servers to do so and it would also pretty much make E2EE (which they support through the crypt backend in Rclone) worthless given that they’d have to run the transfers on their server.
Since it sounds like you’re not really worried about those issues, I think the cheapest option may be to find a really cheap VPS and just run your transfers on Rclone through it. You might be able to find one that has Rclone set up by default (like a PikaPods-esque thing). You may be able to abuse something like Fly.io to effectively work for free (which people do for stuff like MollySocket).
Data transfer between apps or Machines in the same region (for organizations using granular data transfer rates)
Data transfer from apps without an assigned IP address (for organizations not using granular data transfer rates)
It sort of sounds to me like if you don’t give it a specific IP address, it might be able to do unlimited egress (and ingress is included). You’d have to verify the terms though.
There are other essentially free VPS options, but most places have bandwidth limits or overage charges (unsurprisingly). Depending on how much you’re transferring though you might be able to find another one that works fine.
I hear you. I am not as technical as you, so there is a chance I didn’t express myself correctly.
When I talk about a web version of RCloneView, there’s nothing actually going on on web. The web is just an interface to run my migrations. In fact, now that I think about it, I think what I meant was Web-UI for RCloneView. Kind of like how some torrent clients have a web interface. Nothing is being run on your computer. Everything is happening in the cloud.
I understand that CLI can be very powerful, I just find it extremely intimidating. I’m not Mr. Robot. I do plan to learn, though. I just gotta find the time and the right course for a complete noob like myself.
Yes. As I’ve explained to @kissu above, what I am looking for is more akin to web-UI more than a web version of an app.
Not sure if it’s what I am looking for, but I will look into it.
Thank you for all your suggestions! I really appreciate all of you taking the time to offer solutions.
That’s the recommendation I made to the same request on Techlore forums.
I get that all this CLI/VPS solution sounds very daunting, and I can totally see why especially from someone who has never done anything like it before. But I firmly believe this is the best solution to fit your requirements and once set up, it’ll be just as easy as using RcloneView but in the cloud. I am willing to personally demonstrate how you can get it set up and/or get on a call with you to get it set up.
If you want a video walkthrough, let me know. If you want to get on a call, PM me. Holiday break from work is upon me so I have time. Just let me know.
