Is SimpleWall Compromised?

Hello

I am wondering if anyone here has read through the source code of SimpleWall and can confirm / shed some light on the security of it: https://github.com/henrypp/simplewall

The only reason I ask is because the developer seems to be posting some insane / incoherent replies in his github repo and issues section, and even hides comments from people that post anything critiquing or unfavorable of his project.

For example this comment posted was hidden by the author: “this git is likely compromised and taken over by russian bots or hackers. Beware whoever downloads and installs.”

I’ve read through the numerous older forums already posted here (I added the links below) but would appreciate any new insight if anyone can share their wisdom.

I am slightly paranoid about this because the repo was recently archived but then opened again after about a month, and the software auto updates with each new version. I have used this firewall quite literally every single day for the past year and a half as it would auto boot on startup.

I think the user interface and fact that all apps are blocked from internet access by default is what makes SimpleWall absolutely amazing. This is especially useful because the default windows firewall is absolutely horrendous to use.

Appreciate any and all replies. Thank you.

Portmaster is a great option for Windows and Linux and LuLu & Little Snitch for macOS.

No proof was provided.

Yes, they way the developer communicates is weird as you have already saw in other threads here.

Respectfully, portmaster is really unreliable and flat out does not work with VPNs (unless you use their VPN)

I will say portmaster’s UI is nice, but it’s constantly letting things ping out / in even when they are blocked. That’s a huge dealbreaker when it’s that inconstant.

Yes I know there’s not proof hence why I asked if anyone has actually gone through the source code themselves and verified its security…

There’s also dozens of other comments from other people on the github that say similar things, I just chose that one because it was the latest.
