I’m looking to minimize my browser fingerprint but still require specific extensions. Does sideloading extensions via zip file offer better privacy than installing them from the Chrome Web Store? I’m concerned that sideloading might inadvertently increase my fingerprint uniqueness compared to the average. Which is preferred?
Extension related fingerprint should behave/fingerprint you the same way. I see no reason for there to be a difference.
I don’t think it’ll matter where the extension comes from as long as it gets added to the browser.
Here’s a great guide for browser extensions from arkenfox which covers more stuff but generally the less extensions you use, the better: 4.1 Extensions · arkenfox/user.js Wiki · GitHub
it could be different if you weren’t using the same matching version
eg. if you were just loading from git trunk/master as opposed to the tagged release
