Joplin is recommend by PG as a note-taking app which is why I’m writing about it here. I’m not trying to convert anyone to a new note-taking app.
I do want to share that I installed Joplin Server in my homelab over the weekend and wow is it fast. It’s blazing fast. I have tons of notes since I’ve been using Joplin for over 6 years now. It’s my primary note-taking app and webclipping tool.
For new notes + encryption average sync time went from 15ish seconds per sync to 233 milliseconds.
I put Joplin on a new desktop. For a fresh install before took my around 5min and 30 seconds. With Joplin Server it was 82 seconds. Also, now my notes are 100% in my control which I like.
