How to use versioning in a local ms word file?

Hi as you can see in the below link, we can use versioning in onedrive or sharepoint, any way to do it, in a local docx file?

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/office/use-versioning-with-word-46b4d23f-b032-4837-94ab-746de8fbe6ec

As I know, only Softmaker office (commercial program) has built-in versioning system.

But if you don’t use other sync tool (e.g. Syncthing also has an option to keep more versions) or some verision control system (git, svn, PDM…) you can use windows’ built-in file history setting

I was planning to sync with cryptomator, thats whh wanted in-built versioning.

TortoiseHg has docdiff as well, so was thinking that as alternative if no in-file versioning is there.

git I think will bloat it.

Also how will I sync the windows in-built?

Can you link the syncthing docs that mention versioning? prob that also saves the entire doc not diff.

I’ve never used any of those (did test syncthing versioning once though), for windows I put some link in previous post, and here’s official one for syncthing

I have scheduled daily backups, and realized it’s good enough for me in case I need some older version of my files.

ideally wanted deduplicating backups.
with some nice version comparion UI.

diff’ing I mean.
