i find a private search provider can anyone provide better inside i could not find as such
privacywall https://www.privacywall.org/
anti tracking and ads blocker data protection and private view all of this are already there

Didn’t know about this. Will have to look into it. The PrivateView options looks interesting.

similar to startpage

  • Powered by Bing
  • Shares your IP address and browser information with Microsoft
  • Amazon Cloudfront CDN

Looks like a worse Startpage to me. Avoid it.

IMO, it is very much a mess. If you want to use their Private View feature, just go with Startpage’s Anonymous View.

Their privacy policy is very vague. They never outright claim that they do not log searches and more focused on “blocking ads and tracking”, whatever that means.

Sources

We partner with various sources to provide the information that powers our search engine. Our traditional web search results are powered by a major search engine not named Google. In order to present the best search experience, our search partner may collect information such as IP address, user agent, and other information to provide search results.

So, essentially sharing everything with their search provider?

They REALLY push you to use their browser extensions and separate apps. Their Chrome and Firefox extensions have clearly fake reviews to push the rating.

As a side note, I love this review.

Their desktop app is a firewall (?) that also protects your location from being shared (???).

They provide a list of URLs that they block. I don’t know much about specific sites, but the list seem to be too small to cover everything.

Their Twitter is a bunch of low-effort self-promotions. Noteworthy, they used to advertise their own crypto. Apparently, even their CEO did so. Also, big fans of Dogecoin. In general, it’s a bunch of self-promos, “hip-with-the-kids” ad-included memes, statements on US politics, YOLO r/Wallstreetbets posts, and crypto. Very professional.

Owned by an advertisement company. The claims on their parent website are actually hilariously ironic.

I love when my privacy-respecting search engine is owned by a company that tracks users across search engines.

Off-topic but funny

I’ve found a wild statement while looking through their Support page.

Is PrivacyWall hiring?
