How do I buy Crypto in Germany/Europe privately?

Has anyone advice on buying crypto, preferably Monero or Bitcoin, in Germany or Europe. In the past there were ‘backyard vending machines’ where you didn’t have to identify yourself but the are gone? Is there a way to buy Crypto anonymous and is this even legal?

There is Bisq - A decentralized bitcoin exchange network for example. It is legal to buy it anonymously, but you might have to disclose the amount for tax purposes (speaking of Germamy, don’t really know about the taxes part).

No.

This also answers OP.

I’ll have to look into Retoswap myself since I want to buy Monero soon. Normally, I buy Bitcoin via Revolut, transfer to Cake Wallet and convert into Monero since Kraken doesn’t offer Monero anymore. Very tedious!

Does that really matter if you only buy BTC from there to buy monero?

Yeah, everything on Bitcoin blockchain is public, so they will see that you bought tainted coins, and it went to your wallet. Afterwards when you buy Monero, everything on its blockchain is anonymous, so no "tainted"coins, all look the same.

Could there still be consequences if one uses something like Unstoppable Swap to turn the tainted Bitcoin into Monero?

what are “tainted” coins? Are those just coins attached to a users identity?

Since you can see the history of Bitcoin transactions, when people illicitly buy or sell with Bitcoin, you can see that on the coin, even if that Bitcoin has been traded later. Tainted coins may cause you trouble even if you didn’t mean to get them.

Since you can’t see that with Monero, all Moneroj are the same and can’t be tainted.

You are still swapping, atomic swaps are made to be “trustless” but chain & taint issue still exists with Bitcoin.

Depends on the way you bought it, KYC then yes. You can follow the transaction across chain.
