How can I create a Steam account anonymously?

I want to purchase a game on Steam without giving up any PII. I already can a game with a Steam gift card, but I can’t create an account with a VPN on.

Any suggestions?

Before you turn off your VPN, maybe see if you can make an account with Startpage Anonymous View?

Have you tried using iCloud private relay? I’d give it a try as the ip reputation of it has been better than most in my experience.

Using a disposable/burner laptop (or maybe just your laptop) Go to your favorite coffee shop and use their WiFi from there. No VPN needed. You need to buy coffee though and prepaid internet if it isn’t free.

I have tried, I still can’t create an account.

I don’t have an Apple device.

This works, but now Steam blocks me from using a email alias…

I dont think I’d want to associate Steam with a disposable alias especially if you are going to invest in your hard earned money in it. But that’s just my opinion. You might have a valid use case for an anonymous account.

You can also pay with crypto anonymously on some keysites if you dont want to give steam your card.

I think that purchasing these Steam keys is a legal gray area that may hurt game developers. That certainly works to keep your payment method anonymous though.

You can also use something like privacy.com - In the US if you set the address to a state with no sales tax you can avoid paying that as well.

If you can support the devs in other ways, like donating, it should be fine.
