Home security cameras

Hello guys hope everyone is doing fine I just have a quick question what is the best open source home security cameras ? I’ve been looking around and can’t seem to find anything

Just get any PoE IP cameras and put them on their own isolated VLAN.
Frigate is great, they also have some recommendations: Recommended hardware | Frigate

Reolink pairs with Home Assistant nicely and works perfectly fine while being offline. But fully offline VLANs for IoT devices are crucial.

Thank you for the info I’ll do some research on this have a great day

I believe @jonah just did a video for Techlore on the Synology cameras. Privacy-Friendly Security Cameras...Synology Did It! - Invidious

The C2 Cloud cameras in that video are also the ones I mentioned here, but I haven’t actually reviewed them so I can’t really say whether they’re good or bad yet. They don’t come out until Q4 2024.

Synology Surveillance Station — the app on your NAS, not in the cloud at all — is different than the cameras I looked at in the video. Surveillance Station is generally regarded to be very good, if you already have a Synology NAS. I overall like it from what I’ve tested/seen, but I don’t really have a serious deployment with it, so take that with a grain of salt. It’s of course also not open source, and has some weird licensing pricing.

As far as open source goes, I mainly see people talk about these three NVR options (that you would pair with any IP camera), but I don’t have much experience with them myself:
