Let’s get straight to the point.
Are you saying that google has no history of user data scandals? And are you saying that it’s not in google’s nature to collect various data and metadata through its users from its services and applications?
If so, you’re either an hypocrite trying to appear smarter (with mocking posts designed to caricature anyone who doesn’t share your way of doing things), or an idiot (with all due respect).
How does this make any sense?
The fact that Google had a lot of data scandals in the past doesn’t mean that Gboard, AOSP, Chromium, or “name anything that is developed by Google” is spyware and is secretly collecting tons of data.
Indeed, this doesn’t mean that all their products are spyware.
However, this bad history means that Google shouldn’t be as trustworthy about users data as other companies like Proton, for example.
So there’s nothing crazy about disabling network permission for Gboard, knowing that :
A keyboard will be used for writing and C/C a lot of sensitive data (including passwords, etc.)
It’s technically feasible for Google to collect such data
Again, this all comes down to trust. And there are many reasons not to trust Google because of said scandals.
The same goes for any corporation that is big and relevant enough.
Of course! Essentially no organization can be fully trusted once they get big enough.
