Google Policy Change Towards Fingerprinting

This is just Google ads, not good but doesn’t change much I think… Adblock users keep on winning.

Lately is becoming super difficult to dodge Google invasive polices. At least in my case, I’m finding very challenging to use a reliable YT Android App frontend for example.

Been using FreeTube for a while on PC and it’s been perfectly fine. Might be slightly worse on Android but should work more or less the same.

Worst case scenario you can use the official website and rely on an adblocker (can use uBO with Mull). Not as good, but as long as you block the ads at least it should be only google fingerprinting you.

Edit: also, Google ads were never really well vetted by Google in the first place. Just look at the massive amount of scam ads.

I’ve been having the same issue, so far grayjay and newpipe still work but I’m not too optimistic

The EU should take action against Google’s monopoly: YouTube and Android to prevent further damages.

They should make YouTube an independent company and let us create accounts without a Google account, which would solve most of the problems.

Now, let’s talk about Android. Google is actually doing a great job making Android dependent on GMS, if we look at it from Google’s perspective. But of course, it’s a disaster for privacy and makes Google an absolute tyrant. I don’t think it’s possible to create an OS from scratch, as it needs a lot of work to be production-ready. So the solution would be to make AOSP great again and not let Google do their evil shits.

Ironically that may be the reason for the allowing of fingerprinting by others.

I think it’s the primary reason as well. Google’s decision to quietly embrace fingerprinting comes after the Department of Justice wants it to sell Chrome. I don’t think the timing is accidental.

Fingerprinting is a browser-agnostic, device-agnostic way to track users, after all.

Google is definitely thinking its main source of income is at risk.
