This is huge.
There seem to be some key metrics used by Play Store to make this assessment, for example the app “is frequently uninstalled compared to similar apps on Play,” or that Play Store “has limited user data about this app,” or that it might have “few active users compared to others on Play.”
Omg , then maybe most of the purpose built apps will be labeled as low quality.
Omg again, what does “limited user data about this app” even mean?
Omg once again, meaning indie / new / not well advertised apps = low quality?
Sounds like some “solid” logic to me.
The Play Store itself doesn’t meet half of these criteria. It sucks to use, takes forever to download apps, isn’t private, and complains that my device isn’t secure due to lacking Play Protect certification despite being the most secure mobile device available.
“I am sorry you feel that way”
Joke aside, are they trying to push people using third party app store, just like X pushing people using bluesky?
Yes, they’re pushing me to use Accrescent.
I got 2/3 of my apps from fdroid and 1/3 from google play store via aurora. Available apps on Accrescent is too few to be useful.
