What are your opinions on using Google Pixel USB-C earbuds with a Pixel phone on GrapheneOS, from a privacy/security standpoint, as well as from a quality/price standpoint?
These are amazing value: 7Hz x Crinacle Salnotes Zero:2 IEM | The Hangout – The Hangout by Crinacle
Anything below these is just e-waste.
You would also need to get an Apple USB-C to 3.5 mm Headphone Jack Adapter, which is less than $10.
Would the adapter have any impact on the quality of sound and calls?
No.
I have a Samsung adapter that worked well enough with the sound but when I’m in a Signal call with someone, they tell me that the sound is weird. I’m not sure if it’s related to the adapter though.
The problem is with your microphone, not the adapter.
How are you going to make a phone call with these? lol
Thanks, I’ll look into the earphones you recommended. The reviews seem overwhelmingly positive too.
My 1$ VIDO earbuds/sennheiser clone would beg to differ, I enjoy high quality audio but it doesn’t matter all that much when it’s drowned by transit sound
In the same way I always do? Just call?
I do wish the Zero:2 gets a USB-C + mic variant like its predecessor. Unfortunately it didn’t exist when I bought my Zero.
If they’re an actual pair of earbuds, then that alone is enough to put them below any IEM in terms of sound because earbuds don’t even go inside your ear canal. Which is also the reason why they will get drowned by transit sound. The only reason to even look at earbuds is if you need to hear your surroundings.
As for your $1 clones, it’s impossible for them to be anything but complete e-waste.
- The people that make these need to profit, if there wasn’t any profit, they wouldn’t be producing them.
- Distributing any kind of product costs money.
- Labor work costs money.
- Cables cost money.
- Packaging costs money.
- Who the fuck even tuned them? That costs money, too.
By the time we come to the cost of the things that matter the most for sound, which are the shell and the drivers, there is basically barely any money left.
They might do their job, which is providing you with sound, but in terms of sound and overall quality, they’re e-waste.
Also, I think the people that make these clones are being exploited in these Chinese factories, so yeah.
The good thing is that you can just replace the cable with something that suits your needs.
Then I’ll have a perfectly good cable that I won’t be needing. I suppose I could sell it .
/shrug it works and sounds fine for me and seems to have good review so idk why you’re so pissed off about it VIDO Earbuds | Headphone Reviews and Discussion - Head-Fi.org
I’ve used IEMs (Moondrop Chu) for quite a bit and the pressure/ear gunk buildup is annoying so I’d rather just use a flathead for transit and leave the high quality listening to a proper set of headphone/speakers at home. If you’re going to play the exploitation issue practically almost every electronic manufacturer does the exploitation crap so I don’t really see the point there.
Allowing the ear pressure to release can be pretty annoying, but I’ve already gotten used to it to the point where I don’t even notice when I do it.
Ehh, not really.
The issue is – Audiophilia is a money market. Marketing. Promotions. Every new day someone pops with some new crap, charging you money, again, and saying this new Z product will crap on the X product you already have. Then it’s us. Contant itch to get something new. They want us to keep buying. We want us to keep buying. I’ve since stopped upgrading now ever-since my Focal Elex+EMU+Hifiman XS. The itch does come, but I contain it now. I already am content and satisfied with what I have. But the industry doesn’t want you to stop. That is their death sentence. They want you to keep buying. Tell me, what can any other company even do with a $1.5 product? So they won’t talk a lot about it. Why should you skip their hundred-dollar offerings for a $2 alternative? The whole hi-fi market will choke and die off then.
This guy is absolutely hilarious.
This guy is absolutely hilarious.
Guys! Cheap ass, old phones already can do all the basic functionality. All of those new phones are a scam! You know why nobody talks about old, cheap phones? Because they wouldn’t make any money! What a scam! It’s good that I’m and everyone else is aware of this secret about how everyone is coming after us, the consoomers must protest!
Good for you, I never managed to properly acclimate myself with using IEMs comfortably so it what it is.
If you think anything below 7HzxCrinacle is e-waste you’re just plain wrong though. There are many cheaper buds/IEMs that works well enough that you don’t need specifically 7hz, not everyone needs “audiophile” IEMs
Idk why you’re attacking his personal opinion when my point is that cheap aren’t necessarily e-waste
Does it have a microphone?
Any product doing its job is just the bare minimum. Doing the job well is a different story.
If someone writes all of their strong, randomly generated passwords on a piece of paper and then manually inputs them into their devices because it works for them, would you recommend this to other people? I wouldn’t.
Does the method I described above do its job? Yes. Would I ever recommend this instead of a proper password manager? Fuck no.
